This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it， click here。 I dropped this book midway。 I got a spoiler for book 4， and it crushed all of my happy and optimistic feelings for this series。 I waited for book 4 to come out in order to confirm the ending before permanently dropping this series。Yeah。 It was true。 I can’t give a full review on Part 3 because I can’t bring myself to pick up this story again to finish it- because I know the ending。So I’m giving it 3 stars。 It has hints of the ending showing through which ruined my enjoyment at the time- because I dropped this book midway。 I got a spoiler for book 4， and it crushed all of my happy and optimistic feelings for this series。 I waited for book 4 to come out in order to confirm the ending before permanently dropping this series。Yeah。 It was true。 I can’t give a full review on Part 3 because I can’t bring myself to pick up this story again to finish it- because I know the ending。So I’m giving it 3 stars。 It has hints of the ending showing through which ruined my enjoyment at the time- because it was showing that the story was going in a direction that I couldn’t even imagine was an OPTION。 So yeah。 Not good or bad。 SPOILER: *She ends up with the Prince。 The abusive rapist who not only treated her like utter shit， but who: executed her， sexually abused her， and blamed her for getting pregnant and ruining his perfect relationship with the wife he really ‘loved’。 People can argue that he’s ‘changed’ because he hasn’t done anything yet。 I will say that I can sympathize with the currant him feeling like crap because she’s scared of him because he HASN’T done much yet- But that doesn’t change who he is at his core- even in this new timeline we learn that he hated her because the people around him admired her and thought they were always comparing them- without ever even really talking to her or bothering to get to know her！ Because of his insecurities， he felt justified in vilifying and hating another person- and taking out his frustration and anger on them。 That’s the kind of person he is。Of course， once she shows that she doesn’t want him he’s suddenly interested and wants to know why a woman couldn’t possibly want him and all his power。 Only THEN does he bother to get to know her at all- and only her constant refusals keep him invested or interested in knowing her。 Ugh。 I thought this series was about a woman overcoming her abuse， learning to love and value herself， all the while finding her place in the world and someone who would truly love her。 I was wrong。* 。。。more

In our journey with Aristia and her second chance at life， we see how everything is different from her first time， and how things have changed around her because she changed。 We see her evolve and grow， just like everyone around her， and just when things are starting to look better for her， her past （or future） comes back to haunt her again。 I like how insightful the prince becomes， and how he sees in himself just how things could have gone wrong because he had been immature and jealous， and if In our journey with Aristia and her second chance at life， we see how everything is different from her first time， and how things have changed around her because she changed。 We see her evolve and grow， just like everyone around her， and just when things are starting to look better for her， her past （or future） comes back to haunt her again。 I like how insightful the prince becomes， and how he sees in himself just how things could have gone wrong because he had been immature and jealous， and if things had been different， he acknowledges that he would have been cruel to Aristia， but now he knows better， and that give us hope。 We learn a lot of how things became as they were the first time around， and see how different things are this time， but we still don't know how things are going to end。 For a moment it looked like a reverse harem with all the love interests after Aristia， but we have one less to worry about， even if it was painful to see， and now it comes down to two， but I really don't know who would be better， for both are perfect in their own ways。 I have to say， the character development is really good。 。。。more

Aku sudah pernah menemukan cerita-cerita yang memiliki akhir yang terkesan terburu-buru。 Ketika aku mendapati The Abandoned Empress berakhir seperti itu， semestinya aku tidak terlalu merasa kecewa karena itu bukan pertama kalinya。 Namun pada kenyataannya， aku kecewa。 Sangat kecewa。 Terutama setelah mengetahui konflik yang terjadi di balik layar。Sebenarnya aku tidak terlalu paham akar permasalahannya。 Yang ku tangkap dari sekian banyak percakapan mengenai konflik tersebut， ada ketidaksepakatan an Aku sudah pernah menemukan cerita-cerita yang memiliki akhir yang terkesan terburu-buru。 Ketika aku mendapati The Abandoned Empress berakhir seperti itu， semestinya aku tidak terlalu merasa kecewa karena itu bukan pertama kalinya。 Namun pada kenyataannya， aku kecewa。 Sangat kecewa。 Terutama setelah mengetahui konflik yang terjadi di balik layar。Sebenarnya aku tidak terlalu paham akar permasalahannya。 Yang ku tangkap dari sekian banyak percakapan mengenai konflik tersebut， ada ketidaksepakatan antara ilustrator dan penulis novel aslinya。 Akibatnya， banyak sekali detail yang hilang dalam versi manhwa。 Ini benar-benar terasa ketika cerita memasuki babak pertarungan politik antara faksi Kaisar dan faksi bangsawan。 Karena banyak detail yang tidak dimasukkan， ada banyak adegan yang terasa “hambar”。 Jika kita tidak membaca versi novelnya， kita akan kebingungan dengan akhir ceritanya。 Aku sering menemukan pro dan kontra di antara para pembaca manhwa ini。 Topik yang didebatkan selalu sama， misalnya tentang siapa yang pantas menjadi pasangan Aristia。 Andai saja ilustrator dapat memasukkan detail-detail seperti POV dari Ruve， mungkin pembaca bisa， setidaknya， memahami mengapa dia yang menjadi pasangan Aristia di akhir cerita serta memahami apa yang terjadi setelah Aristia dipenggal di masa kehidupan pertama。 Sejujurnya， melihat perdebatan itu， aku jadi berpikir， betapa hiprokitnya kita sebagai manusia。 Mayoritas pembaca menolak Ruve sebagai pasangan takdir Aristia， namun di sisi lain， pembaca yang sama juga mendukung Linden sebagai pasangan Elise。 Padahal jika kita perhatikan， kehidupan pertama dua karakter ini sebenarnya sama saja。Meski begitu， bukan berarti season 3 ini buruk sepenuhnya。 Visual The Abandoned Empress， dari desain pakaian， palet warna hingga background， sangat memanjakan mata。 Aku suka sekali dengan gaun dan pakaian formal yang dikenakan Aristia。 Selain itu， ada beberapa panel yang membuatku cukup merinding。 Panel-panel ini， meski berbentuk gambar 2D， menampilkan ketegangan yang timbul pada saat Jieun muncul dari danau。 Ina， ilustrator The Abandoned Empress， berhasil menggambarkan pergolakan batin Aristia melalui panel ini。 Aku hampir lupa bernapas saat membacanya。 Ngomong-ngomong， aku menulis judul ulasan The Abandoned Empress di blogku dengan kata-kata “melawan takdir”。 Ini sedikit menyesatkan， sebenarnya， karena pada akhirnya Aristia tidak melawan takdirnya sepenuhnya。 Dia memang selamat dari kematian di kehidupan kali ini， tapi untuk hal-hal lainnya， ada yang tidak bisa dia ubah seutuhnya。 Namun itu bukan sesuatu yang buruk， menurutku。 Karena di kehidupan nyata pun， manusia tidak sepenuhnya memegang kuasa atas takdirnya。 。。。more

31 Dec 2020Plot: Reincarnated Noblewoman's quest to keep herself alive this time around is complicated by all the alliances （and potential romances） she makes in this life。1。 The best panel in this entire volume is the one with the actual carrot and actual weed yelling at each other in lieu of their human counterparts。 It was hilarious and I don't see how the author will ever top it。 2。 The romantic relationship continues to be interesting， mostly because it's more about small concessions than i 31 Dec 2020Plot: Reincarnated Noblewoman's quest to keep herself alive this time around is complicated by all the alliances （and potential romances） she makes in this life。1。 The best panel in this entire volume is the one with the actual carrot and actual weed yelling at each other in lieu of their human counterparts。 It was hilarious and I don't see how the author will ever top it。 2。 The romantic relationship continues to be interesting， mostly because it's more about small concessions than it's about grand gestures。 That one bit where Ruve and Tia show up in hilariously mismatched outfits because they were trying to match what the other person had previously decided on was great。 3。 The Bitchy Princess Squad （tm） is the mostly the usual kind of romantic rival who really stands no chance at all drama and was mostly cliche。 Props to the author for the （view spoiler）["heroine loses posturing contest deliberately in order to keep peace between kingdoms" （hide spoiler）] thing though- that was both new and relevant to the story。 Also props for two of the bitchy princess squad being neither bitchy nor a romantic rival。 Let women have ambitions beyond romance 2k20！But seriously， I like how competent both Ruve and Tia are; they are both how do I put it- manipulative but in a way that comes across as asserting authority in polite ways rather than leveraging people into positions they don't necessarily want to be in （Hello， Allendis）。 Not that the latter is a bad thing， but the way these two handle problems shows how in-sync they are when it comes to motivations and methods it's great I do love a hypercompetent romantic interests story。4。 Speaking of hypercompetent romantic interests， Allendis had a lot of things happening to （and because of） him this volume。 I like how when he confessed， Tia didn't let him slither out of being rejected。 His rage and him lashing out afterwards and then feeling guilty is pretty cool， story-wise。 I'd like it if he wasn't confined to that bus for all of the rest of the story， though。 （I just want him and the Carrot to make out is that too much to ask？）5。 I ship Aristia's two noblewomen friends the same way I ship weedcarrot。 Ie， in a lowkey but passionately lowkey。 6。 Industrial revolution and moneymaking subplots。 T_T I love them and I can never get enough of them。 Tell me more about the economics of your fantasy world， please。7。 I'd like to note that all the flashback romances are great and I really ship the redheaded duke with the King's sister there was this whole scene where he went on a kill assassins spree and she walked in and he's all like "omg the princess is gonna faint" and she was just irritated about getting blood on her gloves and he IMMEDIATELY gets heart eyes it was hilarious and wonderful。 Give me my bitchy ice-queens and their puppy-like devoted love interests。ALSO。Political Advisor's Duke's Dad and Political Advisor Duke's Wife's Dad: haha then that's decided none of that whirlwind romance for us our kids are in an ARRANGED MARRIAGE based entirely on political considerations we're smart people yo。Political Advisor Duke and Wife: our whirlwind romance is now an engagement EXACTLY as planned。Tia's parents are the least interesting part of the whole thing， mostly because I like my relationships with a side order of hilarity。 But I do appreciate how it's plot-relevant。 This story is tightly plotted in general。 8。 （view spoiler）[Jieun （hide spoiler）] shows up right when Tia thinks she's got this rebirth thing in the bag and it's predictable plotwise but you're invested enough in Tia and her emotional stressors that it genuinely feels like a major blow。 Additional points for （view spoiler）[（1） Jieun's black hair and eyes being exotic in this world because everyone has candy-hair and （2） Jieun herself being far wiser and angrier and more of a threat than she ever was in the original。 （hide spoiler）]9。 Ngl the author's been great at emotional beats so far so I really want to see how they handle the whole （view spoiler）[he was actually only such a jerk because he was emotionally/magically manipulated （hide spoiler）] subplot。 It's not generally something that comes across too well because it's too handwavey and does a lot of absolution of jerkass behavior but hey this has been a nuanced story so far and I expect that to continue。 。。。more
